Dental Implant Placement

Posted on 1/9/2023 by Dr McMurray
Dental Implant PlacementSeveral choices are available for people who need their teeth replaced. However, you should consult your dentist if you are interested in dental implants, for a more long-lasting and permanent solution.

First Consultation

Your general dentist comprehensively evaluates you before proceeding with dental implant installation. You will be assessed for treatment viability after examining your teeth, jawbone density, and gum health.

Surgical Placement

Before beginning dental implant surgery, your oral surgeon will do a CT or Cone Beam Scan to examine your jaw, sinuses, and other facial bones. As a result, they will be able to plan an individualized treatment strategy that will make the upcoming operation less stressful for everyone involved.

They will give you anesthetic after they have planned where to put each implant, and you will be relaxed and comfortable through the whole procedure. Depending on your required implants, the surgeon will make a few tiny incisions in your gums to expose the bone and position each post.

Once they have confirmed the implant is in the correct location, the surrounding tissue will be closed, and you will be sent home to recover.

Recuperation at Home

A healing period at home might take anywhere from four months to six months, depending on the number of implants and the patient. Consequently, osseointegration can take place, which is when the implants join with the jawbone and adjacent tissues.

If you want a speedy and complete recovery after getting dental implants, your dentist will give you specific advice to follow during this time. Avoiding hard, crunchy meals and tobacco products, which can slow recovery.

Final Restorative Placement

A healing cap will be placed over your implant during a brief surgical procedure after fully recovering from the initial surgery and osseointegration. You can then have confidence that your final repair will attach to the implant and stay in place.
