Most Common Procedures We Perform

Most Common Procedures We PerformThere are plenty of reasons that people schedule an appointment at our office. Some of the appointments are for a routine visit that can happen months later, others are for a minor problem that can wait a few days and there are some that require emergency appointments. Ove time some of the problems we face happen more than others. These are some of the common problems that we face in each category.

The Routine Appointments

Maintaining good oral health requires a few things. Brushing and flossing regularly and following a healthy diet is something people do at their home. Visiting our office twice a year for a checkup and professional cleaning is another. That is why one of the most common procedures we do is the check up for our patients.

During a routine checkup we perform a visual exam using special tools that help us examine the health of the teeth and gums. We can spot problems before they become something more serious and we can make sure our patients are following a good oral hygiene routine. The professional cleaning helps remove plaque and bacteria that a person cannot do at home.

Other Procedures

We also perform many other procedures to help people who run into problems with their oral health. These include:

•  Fillings. A simple cavity is something that happens to many people and requires a filling.
•  Root canal. When a cavity has gotten worse and gone deeper into the tooth, a root canal procedure is often necessary. This is a procedure done with local anesthesia in the office and does not take long to recover from.
•  Extractions. When wisdom teeth fail to emerge properly or when a tooth is broken, diseased or cracked, pulling the tooth may offer the best possible solution.
•  Bridges, dentures and implants. If teeth are missing or if an extraction is needed, these are the methods we use to replace the tooth.

These might be the most common procedures, but we do much more. The goal at our office tis to help anyone that has an issue with their oral health.
